A variety of ideals motivate archivists in their work. Although perfection cannot be attained, the pursuit of archival ideals builds character, offers insights, and makes us better archivists. The presenters explore archival ideals through the writing of our own Jeremiah, F. Gerald Ham; examine our professional roles as contributors to the social good; and illustrate how the pursuit of ideals leads to greater self-understanding and awareness of the spiritual nature of the archival endeavor.
