Chien-yi Hou is the first person hired as Digital Preservation Specialist at the San Diego SuperComputer
Center (SDSC). He is a member of the Sustainable Archives & Library Technologies (SALT) Laboratory which
is part of the DAKS Group (Data & Knowledge Systems) at the SDSC, at the University of California, San
Diego (UCSD).
Chien-yi Hou's interests include digital archiving, information management, and databases. The projects he has
been working on include Incorporating Change Management into Archival Processes (ICAP), Persistent
Archives Testbed (PAT), Digital Preservation Lifecycle Management (DIGARCH), and a Testbed for the
Redlining Archives of California's Exclusionary Spaces (T-RACES).
He obtained his degree in Computer and Information Science from the National Chiao Tung University
(NCTU) in Taiwan and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from UCSD.
